What is Crime Stoppers?

Crime Stoppers of Wellington County is a community-based program that brings the public, media, and police together in a cooperative team effort to help solve crime. This is accomplished by offering cash rewards and guaranteeing anonymity to callers.

Crime Stoppers of Wellington County is a non-profit organization that is entirely funded by tax-deductible donations from the private and corporate sectors.

When you call Crime Stoppers, you will never be asked to give your name, never have to testify in court, and if your information leads to an arrest or a closed case, you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Crime Stoppers encourages people to call with any information about: any crimes already committed, those about to occur, or the whereabouts of wanted persons. Crime Stoppers is a program that allows you, the citizen, to get involved in solving crime with no risk to yourself.

Make Your Community Safer

When you call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), your anonymity is guaranteed. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display or *69. You will be given a confidential code number that you will use to identify yourself in all future dealings with Crime Stoppers personnel. No one will ever know who you are.

5. You will be asked to call back periodically to be updated on your tip. You will have to refer to your confidential code number.

6. If your tip leads to an arrest or a closed case, you will be eligible for a cash reward between $50 and $2,000.

7. Instructions will be given on how to pick up your reward.
