About our Program

Crime Stoppers of Guelph Wellington

A group of dedicated, concerned citizens make up the voluntary civilian Board of Directors and are responsible for all the decision-making and fundraising to promote awareness about the program and pay our callers for their valuable information.

A police officer from the Ontario Provincial Police is designated as the Coordinator for the local Crime Stoppers program. Our Coordinator acts as a liaison between law enforcement agencies, the Board of Directors and local media.

A civilian Assistant Coordinator who is supported by the Guelph Police Services is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program.

Our Board of Directors is comprised of up to16 volunteers who commit their time and energy into fundraising which is Crime Stoppers main source of funds along with public and corporate donations.

We are actively seeking volunteers to assist us during fundraising and community awareness and promote the Crime Stoppers program.

We are actively seeking board members who we would rely on to carry out individual tasks and obligations to ensure the success of the program. Each board member is expected to:

·         participate on a committee

·         attend monthly board meetings (first Wednesday of every month)

·         attend meetings of chosen or assigned committee

·         attend annual meeting

·         support special events

·         participate in fundraising activities

·         uphold the legal requirements

·         give advice and assistance in areas of expertise

Mission Statement

Incorporated in 1988, Crime Stoppers of Guelph Wellington is a non-profit charitable program which combines the best efforts of the media, the community and the police in the fight against crime. With over $35,158,266 in recovered property and narcotics off the street, 2,119 cases cleared and 3,709 charges laid, the numbers speak for themselves…Crime Stoppers works!

Our goal is to promote awareness within the community and continue to educate our students and the public in making our community safer.

A few other things you should know:
  • Your contribution will help cover the costs associated with paying 'tipsters' for information they provide on crimes that occur right here in Wellington County. If not for the efforts of the Crime Stoppers program and our reward incentives, some crimes would go unsolved.
  • Crime Stoppers is not a police program. A group of dedicated, concerned citizens make up the voluntary civilian Board of Directors.
  • It`s only with your help and the generosity of this community that our program exists.
  • Together, we can make a difference in our community by reducing crime and help keep it safe for our children, friends and family.
